Connor Maynard - R U Crazy
In R U Crazy by Connor Maynard we are first introduced to a shot where he is standing in a plain white room with 4 performers playing instruments and him singing, we see this shot for about 30 seconds. The lyrics and beat of the songs gives off a classical vibe, this is also conveyed by the clothing worn by all the people in the shot; they are dressed like in the 80's in suits and ties. From the lyrics on the other hand we can gather that it is not a happy song as it is about Connor having a dig at his ex partner for most likely cheating or playing him. Us the listeners can get this from the lyrics 'Must be stupid if you think that we can start again'. After the first verse we get a b-roll and a transition into Connor Maynard in a complete different location (Hotel corridor), the whole mood and tone of the music video changes. The beat of the whole song becomes more aggressive and harsh, the reason for this change could be to express the hate and anger he might feel to this ex partner. After the chorus we are introduced into another shot, this time a hotel room, we are presented with Connor and a female character (most definite his ex partner). Connor is walking around the room with her aggressively pointing at her and telling her that no matter what he will not go back to her. Throughout this whole scene the camera is focused on Connor and doesn't focus at all on the female character, showing just how little Connor cares about her and how much she actually means to him. The next location after that, we are introduced into a black room, which is symbolised with anger, seriousness, rebellion which all match the song and it's meaning, it also matches Connor's behaviour and attitude as he is angry with his ex for all the things she has done to him, he is also extremely serious throughout the whole of the video and he is rebelling against her as he is not doing what she wants him to do, which Is to comeback to him. All of a sudden when we are introduced with this empty black room, the beat changes to a slow, high pitched beat. Connor's singing and vocals are also a lot higher which furthermore portray the image of sadness and anger that he is feeling to her. Out of nowhere we are then introduced into a bright, loud, high populated party room where Connor is hanging out with his ex and getting really close, this could possibly be a throw back to their good times or maybe even the day they met and how that happened. The beat also changes again to an upbeat and happy beat but that soon changes when we get introduced to the final location. In the final location, which is room filled with tables that have flower pots on them. We are presented with Connor and the female character, the beat changes back to the slow and aggressive beat we had before. Right towards the end the flower pots explode which could indicate that his emotions have exploded and he has had enough of everything.
